Introducing the LANDSHARK RUN
Are you ready to attack a new running course? On Saturday, October 8th (less than one month away) we’ve got the perfect run to sink your teeth into. This shark-themed event will take place at one of Sacramento’s largest and most popular outdoor locations, Discovery Park. Despite the park's proximity between two bodies of water, the LandShark Run, as it’s name indicates, will take place on the safe and scenic streets of Garden Highway and along the bike path of the Jedediah Smith Trail. Consider this run the fresh catch of 2005.
The Landshark Run (formerly the Chevys Fresh Mex Run) has been carefully and strategically positioned to take place in early October, thus making it one of the best times of the season to run. The LandShark Run is one of few October 5K & 10K runs held in the greater Sacramento region, thus making it the perfect tune-up race for the Davis Turkey Trot held on November 19. The LandShark Run features a 5K & 10K run/walk as well as kids 1/4 & 1/2 mile Guppy Runs. And for those interested in the social running scene, be sure to check out our “FISH CHUM CHALLENGE” Division.
The Fish Chum Team Challenge is a new feature that enables runners to partner up with friends, family members, business colleagues, and running/health club members. Teams consist of minimum of 5 members with awards and placing determined on the team five fastest times. Better yet, team entrants finish times will still appear in the overall results and are still eligible for individual age division prizes.
Entry fees through October 6th are just $22 for the 5K/10K and $12 for the Kids Run. Be sure to get your registration in early and save. Entry fee includes a short-sleeve t-shirt and goodie bag; an upgrade to a long-sleeve t-shirt for those cool fall/winter days is also available for $5 (thru Sept. 29th ). You can register by mail or online - download an entry form on our website at: www.changeofpace.com/2005_landshark_run.html.. For additional race information, such as course maps, directions, etc. visit: www.changeofpace.com/2005_landshark_run.html..
The Landshark Run/Walk is slated to be unlike any other running event in the region. Come test the waters on October 8 and be sure to bring your camera.
RUN FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH
With so many running/walking events to choose from, and so many worthy race beneficiaries, it can be hard to choose which events to participate in. This coming October 23rd, we urge you to consider participating in a 5K/10K event that truly makes a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
The Marti Nelson Stride for Life Run/Walk is a 100% non-profit event that directly provides funding to the foundation, whose purpose is to help cancer patients by speeding development of, and access to, significantly better treatment options. The foundation funds local cancer support, advocacy and patient navigator programs.
2005 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Stride for Life Run/Walk, and in celebrating this, the event has moved to an all new location at Vacaville's beautiful Centennial Park. This spectacular venue, coupled with brand-new 5K and 10K courses, will enable the 2005 event to be one of the best yet. Just a 35 minute drive from Sacramento, the Stride for Life Run/Walk is an event worthy of your attendance.
