Swim Course

The swim takes place in Arroyo Pool. All swimmers will start in the pool (no diving). Plan to be in the pool area at least 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled wave start. Swimmers who are “on deck” will be organized in chairs and on the grass behind the announcer’s booth so that each wave may start on time and with the right swimmers in it. Listen for the announcer to call your wave # and bib range. Spectators should remain in the roped off grassy areas and use the large gate (adjacent to the pool building) to enter and exit the pool area. Remember, no running on the pool deck (concrete). Any stroke is permitted during the swim portion as well as are life vests (US Coast Guard approved) and kick boards.  Swim distances are:

  • 13-15 Years: 150 yards (6 lengths)
  • 11-12 Years: 125 yards (5 lengths)
  • 9-10 Years: 75 yards (3 lengths)
  • 7-8 Years: 50 yards (2 lengths)
  • 4-6 Years: 25 yards (1 length)
  • Parent/Child 11+: 125 yards (5 lengths)
  • Parent/Child 7-10 Years: 50 yards (2 lengths)
  • Parent/Child 3-6 Years: 25 yards (1 length)

Bike Courses

Regardless of age, participants will complete a paved, loop course. 13-15  individual participants will complete two loops of the three loop course, for a total of six miles. All other participants will complete a single-loop course.

Bike distances are as follows:

  • 13-15 Years: 6 Miles (2 loops)
  • 11-12 Years: 3 Miles (1 loop)
  • 9-10 Years: 3 Miles (1 loop)
  • 7-8 Years: 1 Mile (1 loop)
  • 4-6 Years: 1 Mile (1 loop)
  • Parent/Child 11+: 3 Miles (1 loop)
  • Parent/Child 7-10 Years: 1 Mile (1 loop)
  • Parent/Child 3-6 Years: 1 Mile (1 loop)

Run Courses

The run courses take place within Arroyo Park and (for the 11-15 year-olds only) along surrounding bike paths. Run course distances are as follows:

  • 13-15 Years: 1 Mile
  • 11-12 Years: 1 Mile
  • 9-10 Years: 1/2 Mile
  • 7-8 Years: 1/2 Mile
  • 4-6 Years: 1/4 Mile
  • Parent/Child 11+: 1 Mile
  • Parent/Child 7-10 Years: 1/2 Mile
  • Parent/Child 3-6 Years: 1/4 Mile
