The Fab 40′s 5k Run/Walk benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California came to be in 2008 and is a great community event. We strive to make it even better every year.

We want to increase the understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and its devastating affect on families.  We feel the need to provide an opportunity for affected families to meet and interact with one another.HomePage1

The next Fab 40′s 5k Run/Walk  will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018.  The name of the race comes from the fabulous forties neighborhood in which the race is held; the East Sacramento community has embraced this event and looks forward to seeing and cheering on all event participants.

“Alzheimer’s Memorial Wall”

The “Alzheimer’s Memorial Wall” is the first of its kind in the nation.  Modeled after the Vietnam Veterans Wall, people can inscribe the name of a loved one who has died from Alzheimer’s disease or is currently living with this disease.  It is a way to memorialize or honor a loved one or friend.  Located at East Lawn Memorial Park, individuals are invited to visit the wall in a beautiful, peaceful setting and share a comment on your visit.

Winners were given inexpensive wristwatches and recycled baseball and bowling trophies. The entry fee was $1 and the total event budget was $1,000. The winner was Gary Muhrcke, with a time of 2:31:38. A course running through all five boroughs was put into place in 1976. 2/2
