Runners and walkers have a rockin’ good time at Rocktobrewfest
It was neither too cold, nor too hot, when the horn sounded at 5 o’clock p.m. on Saturday night at the annual ‘Rocktobrewfest’ race, held at Schilling Robotics in Davis. Hundreds of runners and walkers participated in the 5K and 5 mile road race, which ran along city streets and paths in East Davis in near-perfect weather conditions. Afterwards, beer from Sudwerk, tunes from DJ Soul Jah, sno-cones and other refreshments rounded out the evening. All finishers received a medal and there were guitar-shaped medals for age group winners.
Sixteen year-old Jacob Polivka from Rocklin was the winner of the 5K race, which took him just 17 minutes and 58 seconds to complete. Claire Nieuwenhuis of Davis was the first female across the finish line, in 22:02.
In the 5 Mile race, Dixon’s Justin Morejohn took home the title of race winner, with a time of 31:33. Anna Fasoli of Davis was the overall winner in the women’s division, and she finished in 35:53.
