Sunny Skies and Spring-like Weather Are On the Way!
First, quick reminder: this Sunday is the 42nd Annual Davis Stampede. That’s right, this event has been going strong since the 80’s, and aside from 2021, every year it has been an unofficial kick-off to the running / walking season in Northern California.
This event offers a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and family-friendly 2K (1.25 miles). Sign up by 11:59pm this Friday to avoid the higher prices for race weekend. Race day is Sunday, February 23 and all events start and finish at Playfields Park (2500 Research Park Drive in Davis). There is ample nearby free parking, room to spread out and cheer on your favorite runner, and check out the booths afterwards.
Second update: THE WEATHER! We’re all going to have to break out the sunscreen and shorts, because it is going to be unseasonably warm this weekend. No need for rain ponchos or waterproof socks – but you may want to grab those sunglasses. 😎
If you’re planning on participating in the Stampede, adjust your hydration plan appropriately – especially if you are running the half marathon. All participants: consider carrying fluids with you if you think there is a chance you’ll need more water/electrolyte replacement than you have been used to lately. Remember, your hydration plan for the run should commence 24 hours before the race start.
